Philosophy & Therapeutic Approach

Hi! I’m so glad you are here! Let me tell you a little about myself and my approach. Therapy is a place where I get the incredible honor of seeing transformation in people’s lives on a daily basis. With that I also think everyone could benefit from therapy because we all go through some extremely difficult situations in life that could use some extra attention. We go to the doctor when we have a physical aliment I think going to therapy is a similar process. You don’t have to do this alone. You have wisdom and the ability to move through whatever it is in life you are experiencing, sometimes we just need a different perspective or or a new way of seeing the situation.

Philosophy & Therapeutic Approach

Like many counselors I use a variety of methods, philosophies and theoretical orientations to provide a unique and effective counseling experience for each one of my clients.

A few qualities that I would use to describe myself while with clients include empathetic, caring and challenging.

I use a variety of different therapeutic approaches to provide effective and lasting change for each client.

These approaches include:

  • Emotion-Focused
  • Attachment Based
  • Family Systems
  • EMDR
  • Person-Centered
  • Strengths-Based

My goal is to be present with you regardless of what you are going through and help you search for the healing, wholeness and peace you are looking for.

Here at Encounter I specialize in helping individuals get unstuck and find healing from depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, family of origin struggles and so much more!

I also specialize in help individuals heal their relationship with food and their body. Living in a diet culture doesn’t make it easy to love your body nor does it make it easy to figure out what to eat. If you have struggled with chronic dieting, disordered eating, an eating disorder you can find freedom and peace with your body and food! I help clients do this through the principles of Intuitive Eating and from a Health at Every Size paradigm.

If you have questions about any of this please let me know! I would love to hear from you via phone or email and offer a free 15 minute consultation to chat with how counseling might be beneficial for you!

I know picking up the phone could potentially be the most difficult part of seeking therapy, but I promise to provide a warm presence and understanding regardless of what you are experiencing.
